Ridin' the Rails - The Exhibit

Through the use of pictures, text and mannequins, this exhibit transports you back to a time when your ancestors came to this very CN Station to begin an exciting train journey.  You will see what it was like to arrive at the station and purchase your ticket.  You will also learn the chronological timeline of your travel and hear and see the sights and sounds of the station at its pinnacle.  Information about freight and package travel originating at the CP station is on display as well.

As you arrive at the CN Station this evening you will be greeted by a ticket agent who will give you your passenger ticket as you start your journey.  Be prepared, the conductor will be around to validate your ticket during your journey.

“Ridin’ the Rails—The Video”

Passenger rail service to and from Owen Sound ended in 1970, and in the mid 1980's train service to this area ended completely. The rails were removed, the rail corridors were abandoned to other uses and entire generations have grown up without knowing the vital role that trains played in the development of Owen Sound and Canada.  In "Riding the Rails-The Video" Owen Sound videographer Richard Thomas captures some of the 'romance of the rails' by combining interviews with railroad enthusiasts, employees and passengers with archival photos and rare footage of trains in Owen Sound.

Let the journey begin……..
